Hadis & Salim · Our story

Born in Chiang Mai.

The dream

A husband, a wife, and a dream café.

Hadis and Salim had always talked about it — their own place, entirely theirs. The idea of a husband-and-wife business felt right. But a dream without a direction only gets you so far. The idea sat on the back burner. Then, in November 2025, they booked a trip to Thailand.

One bowl. Everything changed.

Thailand did what Thailand always does — it stopped them mid-sentence. The food, the chaos, the colour, the warmth. They came home to Birmingham with full hearts and full cameras.

Then Hadis had her moment. Quiet, sudden, certain: what if we sell mango sticky rice? Salim got to work. He found Rother Street Market in Stratford-upon-Avon, signed them up, and within a week they had a concept, a menu, and a plan.

The first market

Ten boxes of mangoes and a rice cooker.

From idea to concept in a week. They turned up on a freezing Saturday morning with 10 boxes of mangoes, a small menu board, a rice cooker, and some very good coconut milk.

They sold out. Week after week they came back — upgrading the stall, adding Thai tea, pandan tea, watching the queue grow. Stratford-upon-Avon was very ready for a little tropical energy.

Back to the source.

Hadis a perfectionist to her core wasn't satisfied. The mango sticky rice was good. She wanted it to be the best. So she used it as a perfectly reasonable excuse to book another trip to Chiang Mai. For market research, obviously.

They spent two weeks visiting the same sticky rice stall every day, run by a woman named Siri. Patient, extraordinary, and generous with her knowledge. She taught them everything. The rice, the coconut cream, the ratios, the timing. They said goodbye and flew home with something that felt like a secret.

Stratford-upon-Avon · 2026

The best mango sticky rice in the UK. We know it.

The response back at the market was immediate. People noticed. The regulars noticed. Strangers came back the following Saturday. The decision made itself: it was time for a permanent home and where better than the town that had believed in them from that very first freezing morning?

Mango Mood at 6 Shreives Walk is the result. Somewhere to sit with a cold foam matcha, catch up with a friend, or just grab a box of sticky rice on the go. The kind of place Hadis and Salim always dreamed about with a USP they never expected.

Come for the mangoes. Stay for everything else.
